Reading this today and thinking about the weakness of abusers, I am reminded on a classic bully / abuser I saw on the news several years ago. In a very public place, he started to spout outrageous rhetoric peppered with profanity. Twice men came up to him and asked him to stop, pointing out that children were around. Twice this man ignored them and continued creating havoc. Then a woman much smaller than he came up to him and asked him to stop, pointing out that children were around. This time, the abuser hauled of and slapped her across the face so hard that she staggered back off her feet. That is exactly how weak the man was - not confronting people who were his equal in size, but overpowering someone who couldn't physically stand up to him. I have never forgotten him - or the bravery of that woman.

Thank you for this visual image of the weakness of those who abuse. Yes, the words and hands of an abuser hurt, but I hope that all of us will see the strength that lies within us and which can stop the abuse.
